A Cape Hillsborough Vow Renewal, Done Their Way

Some places just hold a piece of your heart. For Amy & Dan, Cape Hillsborough is one of them — a spot they've come back to again and again over the years. So when they decided to renew their vows, there was really only ever going to be one place for it. And as if on cue, the afternoon turned on the magic: soft golden light spilling across the sand, the tide easing out, and the whole beach glowing just for them.

This was a vow renewal built entirely around the people who matter most. Amy & Dan stood together with their four children close by and their parents looking on, promising each other all over again — a little older, a lot wiser, and more in love than ever. There's something wonderfully moving about renewing your vows with the family you've built standing right beside you. Every "I still do" carried years of real life behind it — the school runs, the chaos, the quiet nights, the whole beautiful adventure of a life shared.

Then, once the ceremony was done and the kids were happily handed over to the grandparents, Amy & Dan stole a little time just for the two of them — and they went for it. We swapped family formals for a playful, romantic trash-the-dress portrait session: a bit daring, a little sultry, and a whole lot of fun. Watching them turn up the heat in front of the camera, you'd never guess there were four kids waiting just off to the side. (Let's just say the behind-the-scenes — parents-of-four in full "did-you-pack-the-snacks" mode one minute, smouldering couple the next — is a comedy all of its own.) It was the perfect reminder that underneath "Mum and Dad," they're still the two people who fell for each other in the first place.

From the very start, this was Amy & Dan's day, done exactly their way — and that's our favourite kind of day to be part of. The trash-the-dress portraits were their idea, so we made them happen. And because no celebration in this family is complete without their favourite treat, we tracked down a family-sized custard tart to share afterwards — the perfect sweet full-stop on the day. Add a generous grazing platter and refreshments to keep everyone happy (all six of them, plus the grandparents), and the afternoon rolled on exactly as it should: relaxed, joyful, and completely them.

Amy & Dan's vow renewal was proof that saying "I do" all over again can be every bit as magical as the first time — especially when it's shaped around exactly who you are, as a couple and as a family.

Congratulations, Amy & Dan! Thank you for letting us be part of such a joyful, love-filled (and very fun) afternoon. Here's to many more magic-light moments at your favourite place.
